Stephen began his dance training at the age of eight and joined the Royal Ballet School at the age of nine. At seventeen, he graduated into the Royal Ballet Company and had ballets created on him by Sir Fredrick Ashton, Kenneth Macmillian, David Bintley, John Neumeir, Glen Tetley and Ashley Page. During his career there he danced all the major roles in the company.
 

In 1984, he was asked to play the lead role in Cats, then a tour of Italy as Rocky in The Rocky Horror Show and after his return 2 series of the Hot Shoe Show for the BBC. In 1985, he took on the role of Tom Thumb in the musical Barnum also performing in many TV commercials and videos.
 

Stephen was also a member of The Royal Shakespeare Company for their production of Clockwork Orange.
 

He is a guest teacher for the English National Ballet company and Michael Clarks company and has guest taught at Boston Ballet, Scottish Ballet, Hong Kong Ballet and many other leading companies and schools. As well as BCB he will be guest teaching in New Zealand, KL, America, Italy and the United Kingdom over the next 12 months.
 

Stephen was also nominated for an Olivier Award and a Society of West End Theatre Award for outstanding performance for a dancer.
 

Stephen is a fully qualified pilates teacher and is the ballet coach to the musical Billy Elliot London for the past six years. He has just finished 2 years as Guest Repetiteur/Teacher at English National Ballet Company and was Rehearsal Director for the company in Shanghai for Expo 2010 in association with Shanghai Ballet Company and was also the Guest Teacher for the Young Dancer of the Year 2010 and 2011 at the Royal Opera House/ Royal Ballet School.


He has also just been employed as the Head of the Adult ballet program at English National Ballet.
